What to Expect on Sunday
What Should We Bring?
Please bring diapers for children 0-3 years old who need them. Your child is welcome to bring their own water bottle, but please make sure it is labeled with their name. Sippy cups of water and cheerios are also provided for our Preschool aged children.
Check-In and Drop Off
When you arrive at Sunset Valley Elementary School, go through the double doors on the left side of the hallway to enter the gym. You will see our volunteers in blue t-shirts at the check-in table to welcome you and get your kids ready to go to their classrooms.
Check-Out and Pick Up
Parents are asked to promptly pick up all children from Kids Ministry after service. Present the matching coded sticker to the Kids volunteer to have your child released to you. If you have lost your coded sticker, please return to the check-in table where we can verify your identity and accompany you to check out your child.*
*If you want your children to be part of communion and worship, feel free to pick them up early from Kids Ministry.
New City Catechisms for the Month
Disciple the next generation by Volunteering
Our greatest desire in Northbrook Kids Ministry is to cultivate an environment that teaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ and prioritizes the safety of all children.
The only way this happens is with volunteers! If you are interested in serving in Kids Ministry and are a member (or currently going through Northbrook’s Membership Process), please start by filling out the application linked below.
Frequently Asked Questions
What curriculum is used on Sunday mornings in Kids Ministry?
We use the Gospel Project Curriculum for both Preschool and Elementary classrooms.
What age groups are offered on Sunday mornings?
We provide Kids Ministry for Birth through Elementary aged children. Classrooms are broken up as follows:
0-23 Month Class
2-3 Year Old Class
4-5 Year Old Class
Kindergarten-2nd Grade Class
3rd- 5th Grade Class
What type of vetting and training do you do for volunteers?
We take our kids’ safety very seriously, and we know this starts with our volunteers. All of our volunteers go through an in-depth process including an application, background check, interview, and Sexual Abuse Awareness training.
Do your volunteers change diapers or provide restroom breaks for potty trained children?
At Northbrook only our female volunteers will provide a diaper change for children 3 and under as needed. If your child is still wearing diapers above that age, we will text you should they need a clean diaper.
For our older children, we have separate kids restrooms. However, if your child is potty training or still needs assistance to use the restroom, we will text you to take your child to use the bathroom.
